Anjali Dance Company (the name is Sanskrit for 'joining hands') is a pioneering dance company whose members all have a learning disability. Anjali aims to challenge prejudice and preconception. From its early beginnings, the company has demonstrated the creative potential of people with a learning disability. It does this by creating dance work of the highest standard, which is then toured to all sections of the community.
Anjali aims to extend the boundaries of contemporary dance by developing a new aesthetic which embraces power, technical achievement and strong visual imagery.
"Anjali represents all that is best, not just about disabled people dancing, but about dancing full stop. They are all true professionals." - Louise Katerega, former Dance Co-ordinator, Richard Attenborough Centre for Disability and the Arts. |
