Creativity is within us all.
Anjali
Dance Company aims to awaken and cultivate this potential, particularly in
those with a learning disability. The company supports its dancers to achieve
their highest potential: and through its education work, Anjali inspires others
to do the same. By discovering each individual's unique abilities, Anjali
shows how dance can be exhilarating, enjoyable and relevant to everyone.
PERFORMANCES
Anjali's performances aim to demonstrate the artistic potential and creative
ability of people with learning disabilities. The company devises and tours
contemporary dance work of the highest standard, and promotes a positive
attitude towards disability in its educational work. This includes one-off
workshops, residences and short demonstration performances. Contact
Anjali to arrange a performance. For upcoming performances click here.
WORKSHOPS
All Anjali's workshops are led by Company members, either
dancers from the perfomance company or trained workshop leaders with a learning disability. A stimulating environment
is created where individual expression can flourish. By breaking down inhibitions
and focusing energy, Anjali inspires and motivates workshop participants. Anjali is flexible to the requirements of host organisations and can be booked for half day workshops, full day or longer residencies by negotiation. Anjali organise workshops for people of all abilities. Contact
Anjali for more infomation on workshops.
RESIDENCIES
Residencies can devised to suit individual requirements. With the aims of
encouraging and inspiring the development of creative skills and confidence,
these also act as a catalyst for future development with the group or with
individuals. A specific residency might, for example, take the form of a
series of intensive workshops. This would enable participants to work with
the company over an extended period, in order to experience the company's
working approach. A residency can also be designed to produce a dance piece
that will be performed in front of an audience. It is therefore a more intensive
experience, sustained over a period of at least five days, with greater
emphasis on aesthetic detail and the finished product. Contact
Anjali Dance Company to discuss your requirements for residencies.
